New Delhi: Save Ganga activist GD
Aggarwal also known as Swami Gyan Swarup Sanand broke his fast against
dams on the Ganga at the Jawahar Auditorium in All India Institute of
Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Friday. He broke his fast by taking a glass
of fruit juice. His supports said that even though Sanand had ended his
fast but his fight against dams on the Ganga would continue.
Union Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal was present when Sanand
broke his fast. Jaiswal said that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had
reviewed the progress and expressed concern over various issues raised
by Sanand.
"Government will explore all measures possible on the issues
raised by Swami Sanand. I assure the activists that the discussions held
with the group will be processed by the concerned departments," said
Jaiswal.
Sanand, a former professor at IIT Kanpur, was shifted to Delhi
from Varanai after his condition deteriorated. He had been fasting for
the past fortnight against dams being built on the Ganga.
